About Darianne Doleswki
My name is Darianne Dolewski and I am a Counseling Resident. I have a passion for helping others and am excited to do so at Williamsburg Youth Counseling. I graduated from James Madison University in 2010 with a Masters in Elementary Education. After eleven years of teaching elementary and middle school, I decided I wanted to be able to provide more support to children's mental health. I then went to the College of William and Mary where I graduated with a master's degree to become a school counselor. As an educator, I have experience supporting and advocating for children, as well as working closely with their families.
I have seen first-hand how a positive relationship, support, and learned coping skills can help children thrive in challenging times.
When counseling, I use a solution-focused and cognitive behavioral approach. Not every child is the same and therefore my counseling orientation may adapt based on individual needs. I believe in helping all children recognize their strengths and potential. My experience in counseling includes helping students regulate their emotions, build self-confidence, learn and practice social skills, and manage academic stressors. My goal as a counselor is not to "fix" children but to provide them a safe, welcoming space to explore their feelings and experiences and learn new tools to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
